I've recently starting eating quite a lot of foreign, spicy foods. It's all home-made and it's delicious. I have eaten various chillies with no problems, but I've noticed that every time I eat anything with Scotch Bonnets in, it leaves me with really sore gums, which can last up to 24 hours.

Is this unusual? Or is it more common than I realise?

It's probably the spiciness of the food that is doing that to your gums. If you like spicy, try using a little cayenne pepper. It's actually quite healthy for you!
