Society Has A Downer On

one of my friends (in a more pensive mood) wrote a list of people who society has a downer on at the mo. The list included...
Muslims (are ALL muslims a member of IS?)
The unemployed (spend all their money on fags and booze)
The sick and disabled (they are all wanging the benefits system)
Ex convicts (all out to con you)
Single mothers (all out to have a load of kids and milk the system)
People on benefits (All scroungers)
The list goes on but the steryotypes remain.
Why do we put up with it?

It's stereotypes by the way, and the one I hate most are those who generalise about elements of society.

He is actually one of the most positive people I know, just airing a few views which seem commonplace nowadays.

It must depend who people take notice of then - I know people in most of those groups, and the stereotypes certainly don't apply to them. Not all of them, anyway - there are always a few rotten apples spoiling the reputation of the others.

nailit - your friend appears to be paying too much attention to the stirring that the media does. It whips people up, it sells papers - it's not real.

Tell him to take an objective look around.

I was going to argue again that not everyone in a social clique can be lumped together, but you know what...it doesn't matter in the scheme of things. I'll still get my disability allowance for doing sod all all day whatever people think.
