I doubt it. What, precisely, do you want such a thing for?

I don't , someone at work asked if you can buy them and I said I would ask here as I had never heard of them .
I can't imagine why anyone would do that - it's easier to buy a metal gate!
You may not buy one off the shelf but sure you can have almost anything you want made bespoke.
I'm sure you're right, mamya. it would be pretty heavy!
It would yes.
The wood would be for show, the metal for strength/security. I can see why someone might be interested. One would need a heavy duty support for the gate though.
OG's right. I've made gates like that. In that case, it was simply to add a diagonal brace to stop the gate from dropping on one side under its own weight.

Also hybrid gates, where metal bars are fitted into a timber outer frame.
Pretty easy to make. I doubt if you would find anything "off the shelf"
A couple of years ago I made a gate like this, the frame was square metal tubing covered on both sides with wood. This was the fourth gate I had made, the previous three had been wrecked by local children. While I was erecting it one of the lads who had helped in wrecking the earlier gates came to watch me. I said "you'll not kick this in", he looked at it and Said "no, but it will burn". Perhaps jasmin has similar problems.
