complaining about a hotel and a b/b

i have just had a dreadful experience: I booked a hotel room in Hampshire (England), but they gave my room to someone else, and told me they had rebooked me into a local b/b. The b/b owner was awful and after I left I realised he had charged me for two puddings when we did not have pudding. Lots of things went wrong as well as the above. Obviously I am going to write a letter to both these establishments but is there some sort of professional body I can complain to as well? Or a government tourist board?

Hi Hgrove,Sorry that you had such a nasty experience in my home county of Hampshire.UK.I suggest you Google or equivalent for Hampshire Tourist board and then click on to the area you were staying in and you will find an e-mail address to enable you to report your grievance. If you do not get any results from your other complaints to the hotel and guest house contact the local paper for that area and name and shame them on the letters page.Good Luck.

Write to local Tourist Board, to VisitBritain, to a local paper for the area to name and shame, to any other grading bodies - AA or RAC, etc that the establishments may be in and express your concerns they are not suitable for the gradings in terms of service - not the facilities if these complied to the requirements/standards - and keep copies of all letters.

Write to the proprietors as well and make the points clear and precise. You should allow them to offer some sort of explanation, but grading bodies need feedback as well.
