retracting a police statement
hi, ok well i was arrested for s of burglery bcoz of a phone i had which was given to me by my xbfriend he told me the fne came from his neice and it turned out to b stolen so i was arrested and recieved a caution, anyway i made a statement about it and now want to retract my statement, the case hasnt gone to court yet but was wondering if i cud retract my statement and would i get into trouble for doin so??

However there is every likelihood that the CPS will still continue with the prosecution and you will be required to attend court to give evidence. This will not be a comfortable experience as you may be declared a “hostile witness” by the prosecution. Best to leave your original statement intact (provided it is true).
By the way, it is much easier for people reading your questions if you try not to use “textspeak”. Proper English makes it less likely that people who might be able to provide a decent answer might give up trying to understand what you are saying (as I almost did).
