/// She was recognised in the Diplomatic Service and Overseas Birthday 2014 Honours list and received the honorary damehood (DCMG) for services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war-zone sexual violence. ///

Is this a little over the top? A Damehood on someone so young and not a UK citizen either

Honours are handed out to people who grow really old (actors who I have never heard of) and to others who are good at advertising how great they are.

They have no real meaning any more.

Lady Wolf of Scotland
She was recognised in the Diplomatic Service and Overseas Birthday

she was born overseas.....

she does a lot for charity & to raise awareness - esp women & child issues

i don't see the problem?

She is only being added to what is a very long list

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_honorary_British_knights_and_dames

You'll find her all the way down in 'Professional Humanitarian and Exploration' along with Bono and Geldof

and after the extensive list of foreign royalty who have received their gongs
I agree with McFluff.
Yes, she is young, yes she is a non UK citizen and yes AOG it is a bit over the top.

But i applaud a bit of pomp and pageantry and the pictures show a respect for our Queen, unlike Mrs Blair, I might add.
39 is not young.
I agree with Mccfluff.

I disagree with Ummmm though, I quite like to think of 39 as young it makes me feel quite youthful ;-)

If you had taken time to read the article and do a little follow up, you'd have understood why she was awarded the honour. What else have you done for humanity today AOG as there doesn't seem to be an award for petulant whining
Nicely put Divebuddy.
39 is extremely young. Trust me on this.

For all her good works, I wonder if a Brit would get the same honour, or just a CBE?
She's done amazing work and is a fantastic ambassador for her campaigns.

good on you Angelina, i've seen far lesser people honoured for doing pretty much nowt, and you looked very pretty and demure too.
One of the more worthy honours bestowed.

What makes anyone a UK citizen nowadays anyway ? ;)

She owns a home here and lives here part of the year.

She oozes class which a lot of British worthies, who are bestowed honours for doing their job, don't

The Honours System is meaningless so what's the problem ?
No, it's not over the top... She's done some amazing work raising the awareness of women used in war.. Good for her
She stood alongside Yorkshireman William Hague in front of the cameras of the world even though he is not anywhere as appealing to the readers of Grazia than Brat Pitt. Such courage must be rewarded!

Why couldn't you answer the question for or against just like everyone else without the insulting remarks, which only goes to show what a miserable unpleasant person you must be.
you haven't stated whether you believe she deserves it or not AOG. So....do you?
The pantomime continues.
