20d. Flower under rocks revealed by Alpine tool (3,4)

I?E ?I?K

I'm virtually certain this is ICE PICK, but am struggling as to why "PICK" equates to flower in the clue. I had thought it was a type of flower (ie: plant) but can't find it in the dictionary, nor a River Pick. I must be missing something.

Any help gratefully appreciated!

Many thanks, ubasses.
Flower can also mean pick. As in perfection, pick of the bunch, according to Chambers.
