"..............it's been a long time because I make very few mistakes!"


Is this grammatically correct or should it be:


"..............it's been a long time because I make FEWER mistakes!"

Well, strictly speaking they're both grammatically correct. But the first seems to make more sense than the second - but without knowing the context it's impossible to say for sure.

If I'm not mistaken your question was prompted by an earlier conversation during which you appear to have disagreed with the other party and have chosen to reproduce his/her part here in order to support your correction to his/her grammar!


Perhaps you might like to look up "pedantic" and "petty" while you're at it?

Slightly harsh reply Azimov. I was corrected by a friend of mine and I didn't think she was right on this occation. Just thought I would check with a wider audience.
