Briefly, you don't connect your printer to the iPad, you connect the printer to your home WiFi network, using your WiFi password, once it's connected the iPad should just see it. I installed an HP Envy 4500 a couple of months ago that worked exactly as described.
Oh I gave up trying to connect a wireless printer to my PC. Black art.
Your router will have an address, you may put into your web browser, that it uses to display it's user interface page. You can look up the address needed for your router model using a web search. From there you should be able to set up and change loads of things such as passwords.
Unsure if that helps but ...

As per Jomlett, the printer is asking for your WiFi password to allow it to connect to your network and thus allow your iPad to see it. As per others your WiFi password (unless you changed it) 'should' be on a label on your WiFi router, there are probably two passwords on the router, one to control the router settings via a web browser and the other the WiFi password. If you've changed the password and forgotten it then you'll need to reset the router back to factory settings and start again using the passwords on the label. How you reset will depend on make/model of router.
