I've started watching this but missed the first episode, i know people disappeared but who are the people in white who smoke and don't speak?

Agree with Boo, I'm also on episode 5 and am not really any the wiser but can't stop watching!

The people in white are from a cult, The Guilty Remnant. I'm not sure what their purpose is but I'm sure (well, hoping) it will all become clear.

They chainsmoke and don't speak as apparently everything else is "a waste of breath". As is Christopher Eccleston's bizzare accent.

I am so glad Im not the only one, have also watched all 5 episodes and still lost but will persevere

I gave up, just couldn't understand it, I would have slapped the silly people in white, even though I believe they were peace loving.
