Well Wolfgang ..... I want to rub the dining table down with find sand paper and then give it a coat of a suitable stain. Sadly because the table is placed in front of the patio windows (for many years now and with lots of sun), the wood surface appears to have dried out and 'split' in places. I did stain a large mirror surround with a dark stain and being new wood, the satin finish was beautiful. However, I know I cannot achieve such a result with this table.
Also, the tudor design chairs, two being carvers, have actually become light in colour across the top where continually handled over the years!
