Which album has the best introductory track? A song that sets the album up perfectly. 'Bittersweet Symphony' on the Verve's 'Urban Hymns, or 'Smells like teen spirit' on Nirvana's 'Nevermind' spring to mind. I am sure there are plenty of other opinions out there.
OK, seeing as sft42 was swiftly off the blocks with Pink Floyds' Shine on you crazy diamond. It would have to Let's go crazy, Purple Rain by Prince. Mmm...a different kind of madness there.
All of these are great opening tracks. I originally clicked on this question wanting to say Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, but i see several people have already nominated it! I'm not going to be put off by that, i still think Shine On You Crazy Diamond is one of the finest compositions on the planet. Mind you, Bittersweet Symphony is spine tinglingly brilliant too...
I'm sorry to disagree with you all as Nirvana and Pink Floyd are both excellent nominations but there can be only one winner. "I Wanna Be Adored" by The Stone Roses. Think of that bassline, it sends a shiver up the spine!
