What Do You Make Of This 'cos I'm Flumoxed.

Last week one of Mics carers said she was leaving on Tuesday. I bought a box of chocs and a card for him to give her. She came yesterday told him how pleased she was to have met him and gave him a good bye kiss. He then gave her the chocs and card. This afternoon I went to put the rubbish out and the chocs and card were both in our bin. Neither had been opened. Check my Avatar, people do my head in.

If they had spare time they'd make him tea and a snack to keep next to his bed.
He had his favourite carers but had no complaints about the ones who weren't his favourites and believe me that man could complain and moan...

Ummmm your grandad sounds as if he was lucky, that is the whole point nowadays lack of time alloted to each patient,I have read before about carers being given say half an hour with each client and they admit it is not long enough and they are even called on mobiles to leave what they are doing and move on!

Jeza when this was about to happen to me and hubby would have needed 6 carers per day, I was tol by social worker that I could have a budget and employ my own choice of carers, is this option open to you ? then you could employ maybe older careers permanently that you advertise for and interviewed yourself, they would probably be glad of a job.
this latest thing about the chocolates being binned is very hurtful and unfeeling and insulting to you and yours, next time some one leaves dont offer anything.Keep smiling dont let these people get the better of you.

vakayu Now some local authorities have cut the carers allocated time to 15 minutes per visit! They say that is the only way they can cope with demand and the funding cuts. The carers say that is not even long enough to come in greet the patient and take their coat off before they have to start getting ready to go on to the next visit .
This Daily Mail article was shocking to read today and it made me very tearful and fearful! But let's hope this story has exposed some of the uncaring agencies out there so they either close down or have to improve. But there are some good agencies - my friend's husband needs a lot of carers and they are wonderful.
