If it was myself for referring to Mr Milliband as a 'wonk' - than that is not reallyname calling - it is American slang for a studious person, and it is also an inexperienced sailor - neither of which I think trouble the 'name calling' monitors unduly.

If it was about the 'lefties' or 'righties' - I am called a 'lefty' on a regular basis - along with quite a few other soubriets, and I have no problem with any of them.

I do not remember any resident lefties predicting a landslide win for Labour. My last prediction was for a very small majority and a pact with the SNP.

However, I do remember Tory GrandeeLord Ashcroft predicting this last month...

It's all bllux. I repeat, no-one knows what's going to happen. Someone or other publishes the latest poll on here every day, and it either shows the Tories winning or Labour winning - by an amazing coincidence, the winning party always seems to coincide with the posters own political views.

Polls are unreliable, and mid term by-elections are no indication of what will happen at a general election.

I agree with Ludwig in that no one can predict from bye elections. I can remember the spectacular wins by the Liberals in the early 60s, only for those seat to return to the Tories in the general election. Similarly, at the height of unpopularity of the Callaghan government one of the safest Labour seats in the land, in the heart of the Nottingham coalfields, fell to the Tories, only to be easily retaken two years later by Labour.
