child wont eat

can anyone tell me why my 3year refuses to eat any meals he will only eat things like toast crisps bisc cake any thing else he just will not puy in his mouth please help as my daughter is pulling her hair out

i know this in an old post andmaybe your problem is now solved but i am new to the answer bank so here goes. my daughter was exactly the same and would eat virtually nothing i had a wise old gp who told me that no child will starve in the presence of food. i gave little tempting meals of fruit an finger foods if she didnt eat i made no fuss and just kept right on trying. sometimes the most surprising foods worked ie prawns, pate food that i didnt think she would like but if we were having it she got offered it. this was a nightmarish time and i too was pulling out my hair and although my daughter still wont eat veg she has a good appetite and is healthy. best of luck children can be heartbreakers.

cheerelm, welcome to answer bank i have not been here long myself, thank you for your answer we have tried a number of things even letting him make his own plate up but still refuses,gp said the same as yours,so we are not so worried,will just have to bare with it and hope he will come round to eating in his own good time
