The bi annual Goth weekend is coming to an end tonight and it has been the biggest and best yet (now in it's 20th year). There have been some great bands (including Visage and Heaven 17) and most of the costumes have been out of this world.
There have been a few outfits where the people wearing them have not looked in a mirror before venturing out, but hey ho.
My favourite thing that I spotted was a disabled Goth on a motorised scooter which he had lovingly customised. It was sprayed completely gold and on the back of the seat was a large fan to make it look like an air boat. On the front was a machine gun and bullets.
The youngest Goth I saw dressed up was 2 weeks old...even his pram was suitably "gothed up" and there were numerous Goth dogs, one complete with a miniature top hat.
Brilliant!
The event even made the Belfast Telegraph in the form of a photograph(fame indeed). A slightly older couple sitting on a park bench beside a Goth Lady with a little dog.
They never ever cause trouble and various events around town raise thousands for charity. There is a lot of bad feeling towards the Police as some officers who were drafted in from elsewhere arrested a group of Goths for possessing offensive weapons. They all had flintlock type pistols to go with their outfits.
I can't comment on hoodies because I have three of my own l wear frequently lol
I know what you mean about the jeans - when they are hanging off the bum they look ridiculous.
