Nerja Costa del Sol mid-season?

Hi. I'm going on a family holiday to Nerja, Costa Del Sol first week of october. I'm not sure what to expect with regards of things to do, and nightlife? Any body got first hand experience.

It's a pretty quiet and nice area, you would have to go to neighbouring towns to get proper nightlife, like the ones on the more (in)famous British Costa del Sol resorts. During the day, the place has spectacular caves in the moutains, and visiting Granada and Seville would be worth it, by coach tour. There is a beach and the mountain villages are good to visit for an experience of the local traditions. I don't think the ski season would start in the mountains by then. Check the local tourist board or your travel agent for more up-to-date info.

Almunecar is a nice place to visit just a few miles east of Nerja.There isn't a great deal of nightlife in that area except for the ubiquitous English bars which flourish in most coastal areas of Spain.The weather should still be pretty hot but it can get a bit windy.Try the local buses if you don't have a hire car

The andalucia.com site has all the news and info around that area. If you have any specific queris, their forum will answer anything.

Have a good time - nice area round a nd about - try and get to some of the pueblo blancos (white towns) inland to get a taste of the real country, and avoid the 'nasty' touristy bits.

Mijas, a village behind Nerja, is sold as a 'real' place, but a bit too plasticy and developed to be honest. If you like to roam about, try getting to Granada if you have time, or Ronda. Comares or Casares are nice, and you aren't too far from Malaga for some shopping and other nightlife.

If the weathers good, aim for Rincon de la Victoria - hardly any British visitors and lovely atmosphere of a Spanish resort. It is quite built up and is a Spanish visitors resort, but the beach is great, good cafes and restaurants and few tourists.
