Is It Normal To Dunk A Sandwich In Soup?

My friends think dunking a sandwich or chip butty into a bowl of soup is normal. I think it is weird and wrong. Who is correct?

Got is Ms. Mccfluff... I rmember now... (don't watch much TV). Thought perhaps he was a British cousin to the travel guy we do like to watch... Stephen Fry, travels the U.S. in a London Taxi. Delightful to hear him speak, especially when surprised, which is nearly always!

Each to their own. Seems weird to me but there again i have no issue with dunking dry bread.

What was the sandwich filling ? Did it suit the flavour of the soup ?

Years ago (about 40) I had a hot pastrami sandwich with French Dip (bouillon) in a New York eatery, not really a deli, just a local food place where manual workers went. It was delicious, I can still remember the taste.

I was about to mention, Woofgang, that the French Dip Sandwich is an old standby here in the U.S., seen on most menus. Plain sliced white "Hoagy bun" (about 5 inches long, lightly toasted) filled with thin sliced roast beef and served with a cup of hot 'Aus Jus" ... beef bouillion, which is really the key to a good French Dip. Almost always served with french fries... So, Ok, I've got Saturday's lunch planned now... what a wonderful, informative site!
