I am officially an Old Age Pensioner. However, I will not get my pension until Dec.6th, as it is paid a month in arrears. (Flippin' heck)

Has it always been the case that people have had to wait a-n-o-t-h-e-r month for their State Pension, or is it something new?

My birthday was in the March and I received my oap pension about 6 weeks later but it was all backdated so it was rather a nice chunky amount... or so I thought at the time. Reality though is just a pittance.
