Surely it is the parents responsibility to teach their children not to bully anyone not just homosexuals, and it is the schools job to teach children as young as this to read and write etc?

Some parents can't even be bothered to toilet train their children before they start school, so why would they teach them manners! My friend, who is a teacher, told me that children of 4/5 come to school in nappies!

Perhaps it would have been better for the Headteacher and the school to have given in to the majorities feelings and withdrawn their homosexual based teachings.

not really - in order to undertake one, you have to reason with the kids about the other. no kid is going to blindly follow teacher's orders, particularly if they got a thump off mummy or daddy for it.

And you really think that none Islamic or Roman Catholic schools are homophobic free, that is if you consider some children saying it is wrong to be gay is both bulling and homophobic?

It would appear by the amount of Muslims at the school it is more a cultural thing, just one more problem caused by the failed multicultural experiment.

Schools have a role in this type of education. What happens if the parents are racist or homophobic ? If the schools don't step in and teach the kids some simple common sense rules of decency, who is ?

Out of interest, as children of religious extremists are being raised to believe that being gay 'is wrong', should we as a society shield them from the alternative argument?

Or should state schools be silent on the matter?

The only reason I ask, is because the question, "When Does Education Become Indoctrination?" could equally apply to religious academies which seem to spend so much of their time indoctrinating children...

...or is 'religious education' not indoctrination any more?

I wonder why anyone would say that...it's almost like saying you would happily live without an entire religious denomination, irrespective of who they were.

(Desperately fights not to invoke Godwin's Law, no matter how tempting it is).
