Cat Behaviour

Hi. I have a nine year old tom cat who is very happy and healthy. But he has a strange habit I'm keen to understand! I have a teddy that sits on my bed and my cat will quite often carry it downstairs in his mouth to bring into the living room. Quite often he does it when I'm out but also does it in the evening. He doesn't want to play with it - in fact he ignores it completely. He jsut brings it in and drops it. I don't want to stop him doing this but am just intrigued as to why he does it. Any ideas!

He seems quite chuffed with himself then drops the item and wanders off to find another. Possibly some form of 'present bringing' to his boss?
My cat Bramble brings me mice which I don't mind as long as they are dead. Its when I get a live one i'll worry. He will come in through the cat flap and make such a noise, then wounder over and place it in front of me. Sit bolt upright with only what I would say is "i'm such a damn smart cat" face. He'll onlt bring them to me and nobody else too. His brother would not know what a mouse is or what to do with it - if you seen the advert - he's fred the bed head (except he's called Bailey).
