Has anyone ever heard of someone's face seeming to change before death? I know it sounds weird but my Dad died a few weeks ago & my sister, mum & I all thought his face looked very 'sharp-featured' several hours before he died. A few people I've spoken to say this is the 'look of death', and that they've seen it themselves on family members before they died. My Dad looked just like himself again when he eventually died.
Thanks
Hiya, sorry for you loss, it must be a hard time. I used to work as a hospice at home nurse, and have been present both prior to death and at the point of death probably 50-100 times.
I would agree with your mum and sister, peoples faces do change near death. Not in a disrespectful way, the nurses at my organisation used to chat about how you could tell someone was in the last few days by the way their nose looked.
Although two respondents have claimed to have noted a change in a persons face just before death – I can categorically state that I saw no change in my father’s face when he was approaching death; even though I was less than 1 metre from him as he stepped out in front of a bus.
usually in the last few days/hours fluid intake is negligible dehydration is probably the cause also as circulation fails if a person is on their back the tissues would lose some plumpness nothing spooky just the way the body changes
