Epilepsy caused by stress
I recently had a full seizure follow the birth of my second child. I think that it was due to the stress and sleeplessness of the previous week. Has anyone else had one of these- what happened afterwards as regards treatment?

I am 21 and when I was 15 I had a seizure. I was taken to hospital and had some tests run on me. I was told I had Epilepsy to strobe lighting. I had to have an EEG scan, which is how they determined the problem. As I have only ever had one major fit they didn't put me on medication. I would get to the GP if I was you and ask for an EEG. Fits can occure for all kinds of reasons and not just Epilepsy. It can be through stress, low blood sugar etc. But best to check it out properly.

hi there. the problem is that the brain is VERY complicated and often even the experts dont have all the answers. even when epilepsy is diagnosed they are not 100% certain if the medication will control the problem, or simply that no other attacks will happen anyway.
obviously we are all different.
not much help really- sorry
If you have only had one it is not diagnosed as epilepsy as most people who have one and never have another. People can be especially prone to have one if they had a fever or low blood sugar. If you haven't, best get a check up at the GP, to discuss with them the cause, but they shouldn't treat you with anti-epileptics after just one.
