Carjackings are extremely rare in this country. Accidents where the occupants of the car need to be rescued from outside are far more common. I'll continue to drive with my car doors unlocked.

when I lived in kent I always drove with the car doors looked and the windows up. I still put my handbag under my seat so that's not on view from outside.

Oh dear. Where I live I leave the keys in the console of the cars, permanently, that way I can't lose them, at home and down at the local shops.
The house is never locked unless we are away overnight, even if we are out of town for a day the house isn't locked.
The only time we lock our cars is if they are parked somewhere else, ie a major town or city.

The chap who was married to my niece drives with a truncheon under the seat of his car. His brother's more security conscious. He never drives anywhere without a jemmy.
They came from Ballymurphy, a rough area of Belfast where hi-jackings are rife.
