Ethandron - I have used half and half as I hade a bit of both to use up.i don't know the name of it (something like romanoff) but it's a green cauliflower with very tight spirals which has a nutty flavour, and I think that it would be lovely in this receipe. They sometimes have it in morrisons but it is quite hard to get hold of. Try it if you can find it x

Yes, - romanesco. Hope it tastes good! Thanks ethandron. Just on with fruity pork curry using leftovers from yesterday's joint - I get desperate sometimes and that's when I have to get inventive!

Jordain, sounds a darn site better than what we're having...cheese and tomato on toast. Mind you, I always enjoy cheese and tomato on toast, slathered in tomato sauce :)
I confess I've never tried romanesco, about time I did I think. They look too beautiful to eat.

Mine's a rehash too tonight.

Bacon pieces sweated off with red onion, couple of chillis thrown in and some sliced rooms, then cherry toms. Linguine the pasta choice for tonight and whack some frozen peas in just before I pull the pan to strain it. Add the mix and a tomato/marscapone sauce and serve.

Sounds good DTC, bacon is too precious here to have leftovers, but once back in UK I'll give it a go!

Ethandron - I love cheese and tomato on toast. Have you tried it with very thinly sliced onions on top of the cheese, but under the tomato? Delicious!

Well, now. In this house we have toast, then tomato, then cheese...how do you layer it...cheese, onion, tomato?

there's always one - actually on this one we go for the toilet for the shiitakes.

A handful of chanterelles is a real treat by the way and if you want to snazz it up for a supper party, use panacetta and a few shavings of black truffle.

Sorry, didn't read correctly. Normally I do toast, cheese, very thinly sliced onions and then tomatoes, because I like the crispy bits of onion that you get, but I have done it the way you suggest.
