Coffee Suggestions....

I have always used instant coffee for years, and drink quite a lot.

My daughter asked me if I would like a coffee making machine for Xmas, which would be nice, but my experience from years ago, I always found the coffee bitter.

Not because of the price, but I have always used Tesco Gold instant, which for me taste nice, and my question is.

Can you recommend a mild coffee, a maker and would the coffee be OK the next day if not all consumed?

Thanks for all your helpful comments, and yes it would probably be a waste of money and just end up in the cupboard with my George Foreman grill!

Cafetières come in different sizes. Mine hold just enough for one mug of coffee. As for cleaning, a quick swill under the hot tap and it's as good as new.

Just like mallyh I also have a tassimo and out of all the coffee pods I've tried, there's only one that I like, but because of the cost, I only have one coffee on a Saturday and Sunday, the rest of the week it just sits there collecting dust. Also I've noticed the coffee doesn't stay hot for very long so you have to be ready to drink it as soon as you make it. x

If it is a nespresso machine they are easy to use but if it is the other steam type not so easy. I like my instant occasionally I will do with a plunger but other than that couldn't be bothered.

Why do you suppose every single stall at car-boot sales is trying to offload a coffee-machine ? This is so prevalent that it looks as if the organisers wouldn't let sellers in without one. The reason must be that the perfect coffee-machine for domestic use hasn't been invented yet.

I'm an Ethiopian coffee fan - nice and mild and rich in taste. Mikey is right about the boiling water scalding the ground beans.

Woud be a waste of money if you only like instant coffee. I wouldn't drink instant if you paid me but that's personal choice . I always make coffee straight into a thermos jug using a filter with paper and use Jacobs or Prodomo ground coffee .

OG...You are right about the filter papers ! I used to make coffee that way when I first left home when I was 19. We had a real coffee merchant in Swansea then, that roasted its own beans on a daily basis, so the coffee was always as fresh as could be. It was probably my first experience of " proper coffee" About as basic and simple coffee making as it comes.

Talking of "proper" I had my first Proper Pasty today, since Easter. I am in Cornwall until after Xmas and I went to Hayle today, and had a walk along the Towans, with a giant Steak Pasty from Warrens !

Flipping Heck...I love Cornwall !
