Are the Venetians being over sensitive, or do you agree and these hard plastic wheels should be banned not only on suit cases but also on children's scooters etc.

// As with most things Italian (their wine, their food, their singing for example) it is a product of excessive hype and delusions of grandeur. //

Are comments of that sort really necessary?
Yes. And I forgot to add their racing cars to my list.

As well as their pasta.
Glad to see that you are homophobiaitalian...not that the Daily Wail would ever publish anything salacious, wrong or a pack of lies, would it?
Question Author
How did people ever manage without wheeled suit cases?

Well I remember a time when one visited the sea-side, there would be outside the train station of one's destination, a few local kids offering to carry suit cases (for a small charge) to one's hotel in their home made hand carts.
Just one wheelie case,
give it to AOG?
convenient packing for Italy,
No singing, wine or pasta dream,
No - give him a wheel-less case,
and send him to Cheam.
Being as Venice is a busy port from which cruise liners leave and as many of their clients are elderly I think this problem that needs more consideration. Cruise companies encourage their clients (myself included) to stay overnight in Venice prior to boarding and although booked into an hotel adjacent to the terminal would still have to carry two 20kg+ cases from hotel to the port terminal transport stop. Will my medical travel insurance cover this ?? This could become a taxi driver's golden bonanza !
