Samsung Might Be Smart,i Alas.....

...am getting more and more frustrated by the second!
I have a smart TV (Samsung UE39F5500) and just got my first smart phone,(Galaxy S3 mini GT I8200N-the VE)and stupidly thought that Samsung and Samsung would connect no problem,but no.All I want to do is watch Virgin TV,upstairs using their tv anywhere service,and have my phone mirror on the TV.
I'm sorry to be so stupidly,annoyingly thick,but could someone tell me step by step what to do please?
As for Wi-Fi direct,Casting,Sharing and any of the other so called 'easy to use' apps have all been dabbled with,and I have photos,music and video recorded and stored on the phone on TV,but I want to stream TV,like Netflix,Amazon,the bloomin soaps,ANYTHING!!!
I'll go and have another bash,I have just changed my account from 2 separate ones to one,so maybe??

As you can probably tell,any answers would be brilliant,thanks :)

Can you cast anything to your tv, such as YouTube?

Well as I am not 100% sure of how to do it,what I have tried has not cast anything .

Forget trying to cast Virgin Anytime, try something simple like a photo on your phone

First of all, is your tv connected to your wifi?
Is your phone?

Yep,got them on 5G on my wi fi,so they are all on their own (everyone else uses 2G)
Someone from Virgin today said in a forum that for legal reasons,streaming is disabled if another screen is detected!!

Also the phone and tv are on the same Samsung account now.

My thoughts are that it is easy to 'cast' files that are stored on your phone, photo, videos etc but very difficult if not impossible to 'cast' video that is being streamed to your phone, such as when you use Virgin Anytime.

It seems the man from Virgin has given you the answer :(

I can cast video from loads of different sources from my iPhone to my AppleTV. The exception is NowTV which lets me play them on my phone, and on my TV, but will not let me cast from the phone to the TV. There is an on-Screen caption explaining it cannot be done for legal reasons. Sounds like Virgin do a similar limitation.
It is annoying when you are supposed to be buying a service, and the provider deliberately put obstacles in your way.

So Gromet,do you record the stuff that gets cast from your phone to tv?
That would suit me perfectly.I am really annoyed now,I thought at least with the phone and tv being the same make it would be fairly easy.How wrong was I?

Just noticed....even the HDMI wire slot is different to a 'normal' one...it's at times like this I think I should of stuck to books ;)
