It is Nice Airport. San Remo is only 60km and by road typically takes only 45 minutes to an hour as the A8 ( a toll road ) autoroute goes straight there from the airport. There may well be scheduled coaches that do this fast route from the airport bus station. The train is more of a problem. The fastest is just over 2 hours and it's best reserved in peak times; the alternative ones are about 4h 30 with changes. If you hire a car for out and return there is no problem or extra charge ( e.g. insurance) for taking it into Italy.

Distance is 60 km. Driving time is 50 minutes or so typically; the toll road A8 autoroute goes direct almost 'door to door'. Train takes just over 2hrs fastest; best reserved, in season, as others are commonly 4h 30 with changes. There is probably a direct fast coach service from the airport bus station using the autoroute .Car hire, if you do out and return to Nice, does not involve extra insurance or costs for crossing the border.
