I have just Googled to find out my IP address and I came to a website that gave me that info. It also said that mine is a Confirmed Proxy Server. Is this normal for a domestic computer?

You might have some security software, for example, that's routing your internet traffic through a proxy server to provide some sort of web-filtering (such as checking the integrity of websites which you visit in order to warn you of potential threats).

I think I might have read this wrong. The site was whatismyipaddress.com and I under Services it says none detected so I clicked on it and read down the list thinking that they were my results. I don`t think they are though - I think that was just an explanation of possible results. Doh! Back to the drawing board..
That's your local IP address, SA, that your router uses to talk to your laptop, tablet, printer, etc.
