Just Been Very Domesticated.

Yesterday I made crispy Chinese duck for dinner at my daughters. Today I made stock with all the bones. I have just finished stripping all the remains of the meat off the carcases and sorting out all the other bits minus bones for the visiting cats. They have already had two lots over yesterday and today.
So tomorrow I will add veggies and things hopefully to make a soup. Not done this before so wish me luck folks.

How I wish my other half would eat home made soup. I would love what your doing Caran but "he" would rather open a tin of Heinz...man has no taste.

Heinz soup always tastes too sweet for me.

We actually had Heinz soup tonight. Will make this duck soup early tomorrow just in case it doesn't work, then I will have time to do something else.

must have been a fair size duck Caran ? I can usually only get one meal for 4 from a duck. Never had enough over to make soup, but turkey soup is one of our families favourite. If my eldest son comes for xmas dinner he always expects to go home with a big bowl of turkey soup.

Dee Sa it was two very large ducks I used. I had to do Chinese crispy duck for 11 people. I was very surprised at the amount of bits of meat that came off after simmering the bones for a few hours.

Wow ! Having done so well with the duck, you'll be well experienced for doing the Xmas turkey then !

Oh no OG, that is daughters prerogative. We always go there. She is doing a three bird roast. I'm not allowed to do anything so sit with a sherry and watch the grandchildren.

I was going to say the same thing De Sa but I see there were two ducks but for 11. People is quite a stretch.

No there was plenty of meat, it was only a starter and five of them were children. OH only had one pancake as he isn't keen.

The rest of the meal was very substantial. A three rib of beef roast, roast potatoes, Lyonaisse potatoes, cauliflower cheese, peas and sweet corn, buttered herby carrots, honeyed parsnips, sprouts with bacon, mashed swede and gravy followed by chocolate tart and a fruit topped pavlova. Couldn't move after all that!
