GTA san andreas question

not sure where to post this! guess on a games forum may've been better, but I'm a loyal fan of AB so there!

In GTA San Andreas, when do the Desert Missions come into play? I'm on the San Fierro ones at the moment and it looks like the mission I'm currently on will see the death of Mike Toreno. Looking at the walkthrough Mike gives you the desert missions so not sure when you are able to play them. also not sure when you get access to the airstrip missions.

Desert missions are next, after the San Fierro ones. You access the airstrip missions there too.
