Liverpools' Missed Chances
6 Answers
Having watched the game today, I have to say Liverpool have only got themselves to blame. Sterling had some good chances, as did Ballotelli. Take your chances, win your matches. But I'm glad we won. The second goal was offside, but I think the linesman didn't see the touch from Van Persie.

The Sterling chance where he was 1-on-1 with De Gea was absolutely gift-wrapped, but he took the extra touch before he hit it with his left foot, and it gave the keeper the chance to get back and make a block. Being a Boro fan, I never rated Brad Jones as a Keeper when he was on our books, and was delighted when we flogged him.
To be fair (Apart from the first Balotelli save - good reactions from the Keeper), ALL of the saves by De Gea were directly at him - they are not world-class saves. Even the game at the Emirates would fall into the same category. I could understand it if he's at full stretch and the ball is heading for the top corner.

The fact is United have not come close to their own standards and this teams full potential yet and have only lost to Man City of the 'Big Clubs' this far.
Liverpool had more chances than United but didn't put them away even the gift wrapped ones, De Gea had to be in the right place to stop the shots, stating the obvious but some can't see that. In the end he was part of the winning team again.
