Buying A Kindle Book For Someone Abroad?
12 Answers
Can you buy a Kindle book from Amazon UK for someone who lives say in Sweden. He would be using his PC to read the book I think. Just like buying any normal book as a gift, I'm sure there has to be a way, but may be not if the recipient is abroad, although I'd have thought the actual technology lends itself to doing just that.
I know sweet nothing about this subject, so any help is appreciated. Thanks

May thanks. I clicked on the Gift Card link but from what I read in the T&Cs the gift card cannot be used to purchase from any other Amazon website just Amazon UK. This seems crazy as surely the simplicity of EBooks lends itself to sharing with friends abroad rather than posting a heavy book. Perhaps it's to do with Copyright laws.
Be very careful. Amazon have been known to remotely wipe the entire content of someone's Kindle (and to ban them from ever downloading any further content) simply because they'd inadvertently purchased a book from outside of the area where their device was registered:

Apparently using Amazon.com Gift Cards to Sweden is possible...I've not tried it, though.

Here in Belgium, it is only possible to buy e-books from Amazon.com (i.e. the USA). This means that British books are American versions. There is a website where you can check, for example, the language differences between the British and American versions of the Harry Potter books. This situation is ridiculous because we can buy and have delivered here, physical books from Amazon UK but we can't buy the e-book versions.
