Best Place To Stay In Singapore
We are visiting our son who lives in New Zealand early next year and are having a stop over for three days both ways in Singapore. What's the best area to stay, and does anyone know of a good hotel they could recommend. Thanks.

However, I was on a business trip so did not pay out of my own pocket.

It depends where you want to be and what you want to pay. It`s busy and a bit hectic up on Orchard Road but the shops are there (upmarket shops). Marina Bay Sands is good but it`s right down the other end so you would have to travel to get anywhere which isn`t a problem due to the good metro. Personally, I like it near Raffles because it`s easy to get to the Boat Quay for evenings and you can get everywhere else fairly easy. The Swiss Hotel The Stamford is dead handy for that. The bar at the top is very good for spectacular views.
I stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel on Orchard Boulevard, it was great - I'd arrive back from work in the early evening - have a shower and get changed - putting the dirty clothes in the laundry basket. By the time I got back that night the clothes were all laundered and in a cellophane bag on my pillow. When I flew home everything in my bags was clean!
The food was great - the room was great, everything was great!
Thank god my firm was paying - although I did have to go through a bit of an inquisition to explain the bill - luckily I managed to bluff my way through!
