I spoke too soon about them stopping! This morning the phone rang, I was upstairs and that phone doesn't have caller display so I answered it. It was Indian Michael, said he wasn't trying to sell me anything. I told him I am registered with TPS and remove my number from his list. He said he couldn't do that. I told him again do it. He tried to tell me he was the TPS and he couldn't remove my name. I told him again remove it or I will report you. He actually shouted very loudly saying why don't you listen to me woman! I hung up.
Later I did 1471 and got the number it was 01249872547. They are a survey company. I must admit I would probably have answered this as the number looks a proper land line, so watch out folks.

Yes it was funny ducksie, I don't normally laugh at these nuisance calls but I did at this one even though I really inconvenienced at answering it. I was doing all my flower arrangements and holly wreaths - I nearly slipped over on some ivy leaves on the kitchen floor and skidded into the cupboard door!
well, I had a good one a short while ago, I was having an afternoon nap, minding my own business when I was awoken by phone ringing, I answered and some guy start chatting to me about windows, I was still a little muggy headed but realised in time he was a cold caller, so I went on about my patio windows - he says no no miss ducksie (I've typed this elsewhere on this site), so he went on about windows and viruses etc, then askes me to put on my computer to help me, I said I aint got computer and by what you're telling me I'll never have one in the house, he became really irate and says Mrs ducksie you have wasted my time (that's teh shortened version) but I was the one asleep mindiing my own business lol
My Mum is the only person of any importance who still calls on my landline....so I have reluctantly answered it just in ace. However I have discovered that when i'm out she 'manages' to leave a message on my answering machine.
Don't ever underestimate yer Mum lol !
So the landline just rings out now...I have the moby and if anyone is *desperate* they'll leave a message !
Never answering it again !!
*just in case....not ace
why don't you just get rid of it kylesmum - keep the mobile only
I'd get rid of mine only I signed up for an 18 month contract, circumstances changed and I have 3 months left, can't wait to get rid of landline, but having said that, it's been taken from wall socket past 4 going on 5 days now
Need it for my broadband...thts the only teason.
Need it for broadband....thats all i'm using it for now. I was so polite to callers as well as they could be my family, they're less than polite now.I realise they're under pressure but so am I when I run through from the other side of the house in case it was Mum or Dad.Sorted now though.

Time to log off when you're repeating yourself ^^ ;) Night folks xxx
I have mine for broadband but just took away the phone..otherwise I use a dongle - if family call and I don't want them, I tell them quite clearly where to go :) or anyone else for that matter ( I'm lovely person around Christmas don't you think :)
good night Kylesmum, I didn't see you repeating yourself, I did it earlier on another thread, albeit as gaeilge (in irish)
Not had any for about a week now.

I think they get fed up when I tell them that the person they asked for, was in prison for murder, and could he/she have a collection in their office, so I could get him a good solicitor.
I have BT handsets on which you can block international and withheld number calls. The phone doesn't ring but the caller can leave a message so you won't miss anything important. You need to have caller display for it to work but it's worth it.
