The BBC says that David Lloyd George was the last bearded PM and Macmillan the last to wear a moustache. Can anyone confirm (best of all with a picture!) that DLG did wear a beard as PM?

Thanks everyone! Mike

Sorry trepolpen..can only find photos of D.L.G wearing a moustache.(:-)is it possible that the B.B.C got it wrong!!

I would suggest the last PM to wear a beard in office was Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, Marquess of Salisbury, Conservative (thrice in office; 1885-6, 1886-92 and 1895-1902).

I think Harold Wilson may once have had a moustache but it was gone by the time he reached No 10. Never heard of a bearded Lloyd George.
