Folks,

After giving up crosswords for some time I am trying to make a comeback. As usual I am finding the small ones the hardest. Need some help with 34 d Part of the "South Pacific" book and disc beginning to appeal. (5) s?m?a. I think the letters are correct ...possibly. I just cannot understand the clue at all. Many thanks in advance.

Samoa, South pacific. I think it's Amos, book (of the Bible) with 'a' the first letter (beginning) to 'appeal'.
