With our first fall of snow and overnight ice I am finding it difficult to walk. I have a good sole on my shoes but no grip. Can anyone advise me of a shoe type that gives good grip in slippery conditions. Many thanks.

I can't recommend any shoes, but these things are quite good. You can stick them on any shoe (within reason!).

When the slippery stuffs about I nearly always wear a hiking/walking shoe with large open block tread. If you can get them with 'vibrum' sole, even better.
You can get things that slip over your shoe for better grip. They work ok, but seem strange when you reach a part of the pavement which someone has cleared.
I second 2sp's answer. I've used the non slip snow and ice grippers before and they actually work!

No shoe or boot (unless spiked) will combat ice. The grippers (URL) posted by 2sp will fit to most shoes.
