hey guys, i've decided i'm going back to new york in october this year. looking for a nice cheap hotel for three or four nights, for a single person. any ideas? any recommendations?

My friend and I stayed at the Milford Plaza last year. Nice and central (just one block from Times Square) and what is nice is that you have to show your room card to get to the lifts so you know that not just anybody can wander around.

I stayed at the Woolcott last year, nice and central - just round the corner from the Empire State building. Very clean, but old fashioned, i.e. small slow lifts. I believe there is a budget hotel in New York, but I can't remember the name - I found it on a website.
