Pasta Seems To Be Putting My Blood Sugar Up.

Hi I went to mum and dads with my brother his wife and 3 children it was lovely we had lasagne and garlic bread I cant believe it this morning my blood sugar was 16.2 I seem to have the same problem with pizza does pasta raise blood sugar ?

Yes it does gordie.....it is carbohydrate.

Right well I am never eating it again I have been doing so well 30 day average is 7.2. I am drinking lots of water and going for a long walk as well as taken 2 metformin this morning I hope it will go down soon
As a diabetic you would need to watch your carbs. This might help.

You might want to investigate pizza and garlic bread gordie.
They're rarely pasta based. :-)

Just eat less of them and go for a walk after.
Shame isn't a helpful emotion here - Gordie, it's often not made crystal clear that managing your blood sugar levels doesn't just mean avoiding sugar. It means you have to be aware of the carb content of everything you eat and drink. A carbohydrate-based meal is anything with lots of potato, pasta (which is made of flour), pizza, or any kind of crusty pie. There's some clear guidelines here about halfway down the page under the heading 'diet'

Well.....it was Xmas.......perhaps i have been a bit hard on you. No harm done gordie, just don't do it again until next Xmas.

Get back to normal now.

I watch carbs for my son who is type 1.just wanted to say that in my experience
Potatoes are quite low carb compared to pasta and bread.
