Difference refunded if a price is reduced immediately after purchase?
I bought a TV from Play to find it was then reduced by £10 a few days later. I have also experienced a similar situation with Comet where the item was reduced immediately after purchase.
On both occasions I have had the difference refunded after I contacted them.
Are they legally obliged to do this if this is pointed out to them?

It this was several weeks later then fair enough but several days is unacceptable to me.
I think Comet (maybe only at the time) pledge that if the price reduces within 2 weeks of purchase then they refund the difference.
Dot, to answer your question I am always courteous as I realise that the assistants are only doing their job but Play is an online retailer who I deal with via email.

Prices can change in a second online, even where I work in a high street store, we get an emailed price change before start of business daily and prices are manally changed and the customers pay the prixe on that item not the price it was the day before or might be a day later, that applies to web sites too i guess, unless of course as Chck says you cancel yor order before completion and re-order.

How exactly do you propose that they ever reduce the price of an item? it's always going to be just after somebody has bought it. the secret is to not look at prices after you've bought an item because you know it will have probably gone down.

Matt, just accept that you have been lucky with your requests.
Prices change all the time, up or down, they dont wait for you to order something and then knock it down to annoy you.
You were willing to pay the first price, you could have waited until they may drop it, but you didnt. If you didnt want to pay that price then you shouldnt have purchased the TV

Recently bought a camera (posted about it in technology) on sale. A couple days after I received it, it was further reduced. I spoke to the store on 'live chat ' and they’d agreed to reimburse the difference but to use toward another purchase. I was ok with that, but, then the only give me back a fraction of the reduction amount.
I then emailed the store and send them a copy of the conversation with the 'live person' and a screen shot of the sale item showing the latest reduced price. Within minutes I was given the entire reduction amount together with other coupons. It's not good to always let things go. lol

The reason most retailers will refund the difference is most of them have a 14 day satisfaction guarantee, so if they refuse to refund the difference the customer might say they have changed their mind about the purchase and ask for a full refund and buy it elsewhere, that and it's always better to keep customers happy and loyal
