TV interference

I have had until recently very good tv reception. However, for the past 5 weeks,I now find that I have some interference on BBC2 and to a lesser extent BBC1- its not a great deal, but is a little irritating. Channel 4 and ITV are perfect. I have tried manual tuning, but I can't get rid of ot. Any ideas?

I believe the symptoms you are suffering is all part of the plot by the Government to �encourage� people to switch to digital reception before the analogue services begin to be switched off in 2008. They can then say that people have taken up the new services voluntarily and few people have been forced to switch.

I suffered the same as you. I had half decent reception via the traditional analogue technology. Over a period of a year or so the quality of reception deteriorated, eventually to the point where it became almost impossible to get a decent picture. A number of my neighbours suffered similarly. Unfortunately I have had to bite the bullet and opted for Sky�s �Freesat� service. It cost me �150, but did the job.

This doesn't explain why its only the BBC channels - I am afraid I am disinclined to believe conspiracy theories!

I fiddled around for ages until.......Just check your aerial is still pointing the right way.

I, too, noticed that it was predominately BBC which suffered. The BBC has spend enormous amounts of money devloping their digital channels. Who controls the purse strings for the BBC?

I too have noticed this - started about 5 weeks ago as you said. I'm locked onto the Hannington transmitter in central S England. Initially I thought it was just freak climatic conditions, but it hasn't gone away. Maybe its a conspiracy.

It is possible to pick up interference from the central heating thermostat if you don't have good quality shielded co-axial cables. Now I only say this in case you may have moved your TV recently. The intereference was most active as the thermostat switch hovered around the desired setting. It then throws off RF interference.

I got interference from my thermostat although it wasn't in the same room but was close the other side of the wall.

Just a thought. You will be very surprised just what a difference top quality cables can make.
