Ebay Help Please...

Sorry this is in the wrong category, I don't know where it should be.

I listed an item on eBay as an Auction, then added a Buy It Now price before realising I would have to pay an extra fee for the Buy It Now addition.

So I revised the item and took off the Buy It Now option, but on my Account Summary page it shows that I'm paying 50p for the Buy It Now (although the Buy It Now option is no longer available).

Will I need to contact eBay, or will the 50p B-I-N fee be waived automatically?

I have just listed 5 items with a Buy it Now price and my fees were nil

Thanks TWR. I haven't stopped the sale yet, I've just revised it and removed the B-I-N facility, but it might be a good idea to cancel and relist, rather than revise.

Hopkirk, it's not worth worrying over 50p and I'm not worried as such...but I sell very low value items and once other costs have been taken off, the extra 50p would mean the sale's not worthwhile for me.

Mrs.O, with all my Buy It Nows my fees are nil. I think I have incurred this extra charge because I listed it as Auction, with a Buy It Now as a second (additional) choice.

I'm now wondering if I've done this before (listed as Auction and put an option to Buy It Now on the same listing) but not noticed the additional charge. :(

My own fault - lesson learned.

You put a buy it now so you have to pay the fee. The fact that you cancelled the buy it now late makes no difference you still have to pay.
When you listed the item there would have been a list of the fees displayed, that would have shown the 50p , but you must have clicked on 'list with displayed fees' so you have accepted the fee and have to pay. You should have cancelled the buy it now before accepting the fees.

Thank you Eddie. As said above, lesson learned, will be more careful in future.

If I reinstate the listing, will there be just the one Buy It Now fee to pay? I've already cancelled it but may as well reinstate it if I have to pay the fee anyway.

Free listings are not universal unless it is a free listing day. Other than that individual eBay members get offered a number of free listings depending on your performance level and feedback ratings ( I have over 200 free listings available).

windywillow - you have already been charged for the buy it now. IF you re list the item and click the buy it now box you will incur an further charge of 50p as ebay classes this as a new item for fee purposes.

Eddie - when you list something as 'buy it now' in a AUCTION it is always charged extra, even if you have 200 free listings. Items not in the auction format sold only as 'Buy It Now' are free

You may get a free relist not certain if free relist is only if an item fails to sell rather than being cancelled and re-listed.

Retro yes you are corurect using auction and buy it now is always 50p extra.
You can do'buy it now' or 'best offer' free which is how I sell most of my stuff.

I've just spoken to eBay and they are going to credit me with the 50p fee, they say it should show up on the account within 45 minutes.

Quite good of them really, as it was my own fault.
