In my local Evening Echo website the jobs section is a joke, you select your type of job and say within 10 miles radius and they come up with jobs in Canada which is not very local to Essex also the same jobs have been advertised for over a year and when i get the actual paper these jobs arent even in it ,
I know exactly what you mean. I also find jobsite.co.uk rubbish. You ask for jobs within a certain radius, and end up getting things the other side of the country.
I read in the newspaper about a Hospital Administrator from the UK who was living in Montreal Canada and getting paid some huge salary. She was doing her work while sitting by the pool. She is now on maternity leave I think and is going to give up the job. So the idea of taking a job is Canada is maybe not impossible!
Tried the link Chris, nothing for me there, in fact on the last page the jobs were in West Lothian, and I live in South Wales! I did search with my postcode!!................
I've just searched for a job within 10 miles of Llanelli (South Wales) - the JobCentre came back with a lovely vacancy in Newcastle! Just the type of service you come to expect from the Job Centre Plus - your one stop job shop... providing the job you're looking for is minimum wage, working less than 10 hours a week and 200 miles from home!!
That's actually the new search facility for JobCentre Plus, within the DirectGov pages.
The old site (which closed down on 31st March) worked well but someone in Whitehall has decreed that the information formerly held on the websites of separate agencies (such as JobCentre Plus, the DVLA and the Identity & Passport Service) has to be in one central place. The result (unsurprisingly) is a vastly inferior service.
That's actually weird. Might be that website couldn't have updated periodically. But i just give you a platform, check that and answer here regarding that website. It might be useful for US job seekers.
