Could it have to do with Sheep ? Probably miles away but theres an old hymn, goes,


There were Ninety and nine that safely lay.


In the shelter of the fold.


But one strayed away, on the hill one day.....


Just a guess... 99 lie safely ?........or something ?

It wasn't 99 that were lost, it was 1 sheep that was lost, and the good shepherd would leave the 99 safe in the fold and go and look for the one that was lost.
