Thanks Steff. Three are simple to answer:

17a. Four

56a. Thirty

44d. Jacket

but I can't find a reference to the predecessor to OFGEM, as this was formed by the merger of the Office of Electricity Regulation (OFFER) and Office of Gas Supply (Ofgas).

You and me both, twix, but I like the look of OFFER...I see if it fits in the crossword
Yes Steff, but both are only five letters, whereas you indicate a six letter answer!
Question Author
Ok that works...thanks twix I thought she was having a lend of us today !!

How was your Christmas, with you in the kitchen ??
Question Author
Oh *** sorry, yes it's five letters !!l
Our daughter did Christmas lunch, as was pre-planned, otherwise I've been cooking nearly every day except Fridays when I get a fish & chip supper for us. After almost 46 years of not preparing meals except when Mrs T has been away on school trips or at home in Northern Ireland taking turns in looking after her father before he passed away, she's not complained about what has been placed in front of her!

We saw the doctor responsible for arms and shoulders last Friday, but he wanted to leave her arm in a sling for another two weeks while seeing what happens - whether it will heal by itself or to operate and replace the joint. Unfortunately while we were at another hospital today, 20 miles from home, to discuss my latest scan results she tripped on a kerb and fell. She refused to go into their A & E for a check-up and said that her arm was not hurting any more than previously, but I noticed some small abrasions at the top of her shoulder - hopefully no further damage was done before we return to the fracture clinic next week.

I hope that your Christmas and New Year were enjoyable, and your heatwave has subsided. We don't seem to have heard anything lately about the bushfires that were raging, I hope that everyone was safe.

Thank you, we had a lovely quiet Christmas, nice temp and all, but the past week has been anything but .....

The fires are more or less out now, and all the visiting firies have gone home ...no loss of human life, but lots of stock wildlife and pets ....I can't read those reports, they make me feel sick....about 30 houses, plus sheds and fencing...
Then the rain came in and now the outback is flooded but no-ones complaining, there's been some great thunderstorms and the rain should stick around for a few days yet ...and I'm thinking about putting on a sweater !!

Sorry to hear about Mrs Ts fall, things like that always happen when lest needed, hope all goes well and heals nicely for her, and also for your tests too.
Thanks Steff, some good news there and some bad.

My blood and scan test results were all good - no need to return for a year, although I have a return visit to the surgical team in a couple of weeks regarding the incision hernia repair. Hopefully I'll be able to return to the golf course after that.

Night night - off to bed now as I've a pile of ironing to do in the morning!
