2/6D Wedding Licence (Half-A-Crown-Old Money)
My Mum and Dad were married in 1949.Mam (91)tells me the Wedding licence was 2/6d(Half-a-Crown) in old (pre-decimal)money . Of which one was to pay for the licence and the other one was to be presented during the ceremony. can anyone tell me what was the significance of this and does it still cost the equivalent ? We laughed when I remembered at around that decade or two a dog licence was 7/6d in old money (for which I received a clip 'round the ear !)
