Ev 1157: Observation By Nudnix

Hello EVers,
Started this with very few gifts on the first pass through the clues. Then the Southern half quickly became populated. The Northern half was a bit of a struggle, but once I had a fully populated grid, I took a break. Grid gazing is not my most favourite of things to do in solving an EV! Eventually did a search for 9a plus its potential source. That resulted in a good hint and everything "fell" into place. The theme is perhaps not in good taste near here on the South Coast!
Time to pour a glass of smooth Australian Red, no need for a corkscrew however devadolly! It does taste a lot better when drunk from a decent glass, in my case an Edinburgh crystal one!

Haven't even opened this week's (am still battling with last week's) effort as have a cottage to sort out for a new tenant which has included a complete re-wire. Agree completely about the appropriate glassware needed for complete enjoyment, good Champagne only drunk out of the 1812 rummers and (if we ever have it) port out of the 1821 port glasses! Otherwise the usual G & T sits quite happily in the Dartington Highball glasses.
How are all the EVer's? Such a depressing boring sort of time of year I always think, constant searching for the first snowdrop flower and even more constant inspection of the Camellia bush to hope for a lovely flush of flowers, ideally I would love to head to the sun for the dreadful months of Jan/Feb & March but sheds full of large animals and the prospect of lambing make that a pipe-dream for old age!
Ginger Mog is getting old and is getting quite demanding........wants the heating on all day.....what's more he doesn't pay any rent, or contribute to the oil bill! Spoilt brat that he is!

Hi DocHH and DD. A nice intro to EVs this week after the travails of last week. Luckily I had heard the quote before so everything fell ( or dropped ) quickly into place. One of my all time favourite angarams is of the 11 letter victim. Time now for a(nother) glass of South African red to drown out the weather.
Good Morning! Still plodding with last week's effort but set to on this one, oh my, I thought as I have done better than normal and finished the grid (albeit with a certain amount of lateral thinking) but there we ground to a screeching halt! 9ac just doesn't mean a thing in the context of the preamble and I am now cross-eyed with staring + no appropriate quotes book............. not that hat would help at this stage.
Hello all - and Happy (belated) New Year
Having played "catch-up" on EVs for about four months whilst juggling work with numerous concerts over the festive season I am now up to date, but really struggled to get to grips with the clues for this one. Now finished and so moving on to the mound of quizzes that I also seem to have accumulated. Good to see some of the regulars still participating in N&C (as well as occasionally imbibing in a glass or two) :-)
