I have just bought a samsung dvd/video player. Anyone know why the volume is much lower when i play a dvd compared to the volume when i'm watching tv.For example, i have my tv volume at 20, but when i insert a dvd, the volume drops, even though it is still at 20, i have to put it up to at least 35. Maybe it happens with all dvd/video players, but i just wanted to know why and if anything can be done.Thanx
Digital audio generally has a greater dynamic range (the ratio from the quietest to the loudest) than other (compressed) audio sources. It is probably set for a lower volume overall in order to provide headroom for the really loud parts. There may be a dynamic range control option that works with some discs. Look for an audio submenu in the setup menu. Just might help?
You may have to live with it. I've tried 3 different DVD machines, and every single adjustment to both the TV and the DVD player (including the dynamic range limiter) and with our Sony TV, it's impossible to get the output from the DVD player to a level comparable to that of the TV or VCR.
